REACH is a European Community regulation (EC 1907/2006) which entered into force in June 2007 and pertains to registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemicals. The term REACH is abbreviation of the English words Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Chemicals.
The main goal of REACH regulation is to protect the health of people and the environment from the risks that may result from use of chemical products. This regulation has replaced numerous documents pertaining to existing substances, defined the method of registration of new substances and prescribed the restriction of substances that are harmful or very harmful for people, living beings and /or environment. All substances produced or imported in European Union in quantities larger than one ton per year must be registered with European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) within a certain deadline, which depends on the quantities of the chemicals.
This obligation does not formally apply to producers / exporters outside European Union, but it applies to their European customers, which would individually be obliged to conduct registration. In order to avoid that, a legal form of Only Representative was introduced, to represent non-EU producer before the ECHA.
In line with REACH Article 8, a company Business Development & Intelligence srl (BD&I srl), Brisel, Belgija was appointed as the Only Representative for HIP-Petrohemija in European Union.
Given that a significant portion of its products is exported to EU market, HIP-Petrohemija has conducted detailed research in order to comply in due time with all REACH requirements. Requested data on substances and their use, customers and suppliers have been collected and systemized, thus including HIP-Petrohemija in data exchange within the global European network of chemical manufacturers and users.
HIP-Petrohemija is pleased to inform its customers and suppliers that all REACH obligations have been fulfilled in line with the set time frames and that the ECHA issued a positive decision on registration of substances produced by HIP-Petrohemija.
This enables further undisturbed placement and sale of HIP-Petrohemija products in the EU market.
Polymers (LDPE-HIPTEN®, HDPE-HIPLEX® and SBR-HIPREN®) are exempt from registration, but monomers and other substances that are included in the composition of polymers have to be registered.
HIP-Petrohemija thus confirms that all the products delivered to the customers are either registered, with registration statements issued by the suppliers, or contain substances exempt from REACH registration.
For the Turkish market according to the KKDIK (Turkish REACH) rules, polymers are exempted from preregistration / registration obligation and therefore we have no duty to register HIPTEN (LDPE), HIPLEX (HDPE) and HIPREN (SBR).
Manufacturers or importers of polymers must, however, submit a registration for the monomer substance or any other substance(s) in the final product.

Ethylene (CAS 74-85-1),
Propene (CAS 115-07-1) and
Buta-1,3-diene (CAS 106-99-0),
has been preregistered by REACHLaw, Istanbul,Turkey (HIP PETROHEMIJA´s Only Representative for Turkey).
Regarding the other substances we use in the production of our materials, we can confirm that all products supplied to customers contain substances that are preregistered or are KKDIK exempt.
